Kemba Walker now sits atop the Charlotte Hornets' scoring books.

The Hornets point guard scored his 9,841st career point Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, vaulting him past Dell Curry as the franchise's all-time scoring leader.

Walkers' history-making basket came in the dying seconds of a 118-105 loss, converting a tricky reverse layup just beyond the reach of Cavaliers center Ante Zizic.

Hornets Chairman Michael Jordan congratulated Walker postgame, stating "he exemplifies what it means to be a Hornet."

The 27-year-old also received postgame congratulations from another basketball icon: opponent LeBron James.

Walker, who entered Wednesday's contest needing 19 points to match Curry's mark, scored 21 to go along with four assists and two rebounds in 33 minutes.

Hornets' top five leading scorers of all time:

Rank Player Points
1. Kemba Walker 9841
2. Dell Curry 9839
3. Gerald Wallace 7437
4. Larry Johnson 7405
5. Glen Rice 5651

Curry played 10 seasons with the Hornets from 1988-98, averaging 14 points on his way to holding the franchise's scoring record for the next 20 years. He's the father of Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry.
