The Philadelphia Phillies announced Wednesday that they have traded right-handed reliever Ricardo Pinto to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for international signing bonus pool money.

Pinto, 24, made his major-league debut with the Phillies last season, posting a 7.89 ERA with 25 strikeouts and 17 walks in 25 games. He pitched at Triple-A Lehigh Valley for the rest of 2017, where he put up a 3.86 ERA, struck out 46, and saved one game in 19 appearances (eight starts) for the IronPigs.

Philadelphia had designated Pinto for assignment on Sunday to make room for top prospect Scott Kingery on the 40-man roster.

The White Sox announced that Pinto will be assigned to Single-A Winston-Salem.
