Report: Sherman to meet with Lions next week
One team down. The Detroit Lions, you're on the Richard Sherman clock.
The former Seattle Seahawks cornerback has reportedly scheduled a meeting with the Lions for next week, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com. Detroit will be the second team to meet with Sherman after he spoke with the San Francisco 49ers early Saturday.
Thank you to everyone for the kind words. This is just another chapter in the journey. This will be an ongoing process and I am excited to take on this challenge. To the fans urging me to join your team, I am humbled but I can only look at the teams that have reached out.

Sherman said shortly after his release that he'd prefer to join a contender with "a great quarterback." On Friday night, he informed ESPN's Josina Anderson that the Tennessee Titans, Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers, 49ers, and Lions had all shown preliminary interest.
It was speculated that his meeting with the 49ers could quickly lead to a contract, but that doesn't seem to be the case. The Lions, meanwhile, are a somewhat surprising choice for Sherman, but they do possess a quality starting quarterback in Matt Stafford and are coming off back-to-back winning seasons (9-7). Detroit ranked 16th against the pass in 2017 and struggled more against the run, finishing 28th in that area.
