Corey Dickerson was an All-Star in 2017. He's no longer part of the Tampa Bay Rays' future.

The slugger was designated for assignment by the Rays on Saturday after the organization acquired first baseman C.J. Cron from the Los Angeles Angels. Tampa Bay doesn't have an imminent trade in place for Dickerson, sources told MLB Network's Jon Morosi, although multiple teams have asked about him in recent weeks.

It appeared very likely that Dickerson would be traded - especially after Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported that a separate deal between the Rays and Minnesota Twins was completed Saturday. That trade, however, involved pitcher Jake Odorizzi instead.

Dickerson started in the All-Star Game as the American League's DH last season after hitting .282/.325/.490 with 27 home runs and 62 RBIs, although he struggled in the second half, posting an OPS of .690 compared to his .903 mark before the All-Star break.

The 28-year-old is set to earn $5.95 million next season and isn't eligible for free agency until 2020.
