Report: 3 teams contacted DeMarcus Ware about potential comeback during season

Former defensive end DeMarcus Ware made his intentions for the future very clear when he signed a one-day contract to retire as a member of the Dallas Cowboys in April, but that didn't stop a few teams from giving him a call.

Ware, who appeared in 178 games over the course of his 11-year career with the Cowboys and Denver Broncos, was reportedly contacted by three teams looking to gauge his interest in coming out of retirement, according to Dallas Cowboys senior writer Rob Phillips.

The 35-year-old listened to the calls but ultimately decided to stick with retirement, according to Phillips. The identity of the three teams were not mentioned.

Ware will best be remembered for his tenure with the Cowboys from 2005-13, where he became the franchise leader in both sacks (117) and fumbles forced (32). He is also one of only nine players in league history to record 20 or more sacks in a season, posting an even 20 in 2008.
