Washington Redskins safety D.J. Swearinger is more than a little frustrated over the team trading Kendall Fuller to the Kansas City Chiefs as part of the Alex Smith deal.

Swearinger criticized the trade in a series of since-deleted tweets. "People say they wanna win right but you throw away your best defender!?!?" he wrote. Somebody you can set a standard with?!?! #Defense will win championships!!"

In another tweet, the safety said:

And We Took a Major Step down from the best slot corner In The Game!! No disrespect to nobody on my squad or coming to my squad but we basically took a step backwards by giving away @KeFu11er who graded 90 overall which is Elite and hard too do!!! Smh

Fuller excelled as Washington's slot cornerback in 2017 after struggling during his rookie year.

When the trade news broke Tuesday night, Swearinger couldn't believe it.

The team may have solved its long-standing quarterback issue, but it seems to have weakened the secondary and upset other players in the process.
