Report: Giants ask to interview Patriots' Patricia, McDaniels for HC vacancy

The New York Giants have requested to interview New England Patriots coordinators Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels for their head coaching vacancy, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks said Monday the Giants are seeking to interview him for the role, too, according to Tiffany Blackmon of NFL Network.

Both McDaniels and Patricia are expected to be in high demand around the league.

McDaniels has rebuilt his reputation after a disastrous stint as the Denver Broncos' head coach, while Patricia has spent the last six years in charge of the Patriots' defense.

Wilks has one season as a defensive coordinator under his belt after taking over for Sean McDermott in Carolina.

Giants new general manager Dave Gettleman is leading the team's search for a new head coach following the firing of Ben McAdoo on Dec. 4.
