The Chicago Bears fired head coach John Fox on Monday following a third straight season with a double-digit loss total, the team announced.
The 62-year-old ended his tenure with a 14-34 record, including a 5-11 finish in 2017.
Fox led both the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers to Super Bowl appearances in previous head coaching stints, but wasn't able to accelerate the Bears' rebuild.
Chicago will look to hire an offensive-minded head coach who can push the development of rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky, added Rapoport, though Bears' current defensive coordinator Vic Fangio may be considered.
