Alexis Sanchez is set to stay at Arsenal through the January transfer window ahead of the expiration of his contract in the summer, and will then freely join Manchester City in a £400,000-a-week deal, John Cross of The Mirror reports.

The agreement would see Sanchez earn a signing bonus and a salary of £325,000 a week at City, with an additional £75,000 in image rights per week.

It would make him one of the world's top-earning players and see him join City for a similar wage as offered to him by clubs in China, according to Cross, who adds that Sanchez has made clear to Arsenal he is going to depart the club.

Cross also reports that Paris Saint-Germain remains interested in the Chile international and could lodge a bid for his services in January. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, remained coy regarding a potential winter move, offering reporters a simple: "I don't know what we're going to do."

Sanchez has four goals in 15 Premier League appearances for Arsenal this season. Cross reports that Sanchez's desire is to win trophies, and Chile's failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup served to further motivate an exit.
