Report: Phillies agree to 2-year deal with Neshek

Pat Neshek is headed back to Philadelphia.

The Phillies and Neshek have reportedly reached agreement on a two-year, $16.5-million contract that would see the two-time All-Star reliever return to the club he spent part of last season with, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The contract, which is pending a physical, also reportedly contains a third-year club option in 2020, per Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia. According to Rosenthal, Neshek will received a $500,000 bonus if he's traded.

Neshek first joined the Phillies in a trade from Houston last winter, and the move paid off in a big way as the 37-year-old ended up representing the rebuilding club at the All-Star Game this past July. Philadelphia dealt him to the contending Colorado Rockies a few weeks later for three minor-league players; two of the prospects in that deal are now ranked among the Phillies' top 30 prospects by MLB Pipeline.

Neshek posted a 1.59 ERA and 0.866 WHIP, while putting up a career-best 11.50 strikeout-to-walk ratio (69 K, 6 BB) over 71 games with the Phillies and Rockies last year. It marked the fourth consecutive season that Neshek has made at least 60 relief appearances.

For his career, Neshek owns a 2.75 ERA, 1.021 WHIP, and 445 strikeouts (9.0 K/9) across 445 2/3 innings with seven teams.
