Report: Cardinals to place Adrian Peterson on IR with neck injury
The Arizona Cardinals are placing running back Adrian Peterson on IR due to a neck injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The 32-year-old Peterson's season ends after 156 carries for 529 yards and two touchdowns over 10 games split between the New Orleans Saints and Cardinals.
He struggled mightily with the Saints over the season's first four games, but he showed he still had plenty to offer by rushing for 134 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries in his first game with the Cardinals.
Just two games later, he racked up 159 rushing yards on a whopping 37 carries.
He hasn't played since injuring his neck in a 27-24 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11.
Peterson has played a full 16 games in just two of the past eight seasons. He has one more season at $3.5 million left on his contract, but none of that money is guaranteed.
