Now it's getting serious.

With the Giancarlo Stanton sweepstakes now centered around San Francisco and St. Louis, players on the Giants and Cardinals are beginning to step up their efforts to recruit the National League MVP.

Hunter Pence may have to cede right field at AT&T Park to Stanton if he chooses the Giants, but that isn't stopping the quirky outfielder from selling the Miami Marlins slugger on moving to the Bay Area. It seems that the potential future teammates could bond in the Giants' clubhouse over their shared love of strange Halloween costumes.

Meanwhile in St. Louis, Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong was busy doing his best to charm Stanton by offering the chance to play alongside a bona fide ... um, celebrity?

Cardinals outfielder Dexter Fowler decided to help Wong out in his recruitment by reminding Pence that Stanton might push him out of a job in San Francisco.

Stanton has a full no-trade clause as part of his contract, and it remains to be seen whether the perks of "The Pebble" and/or awesome costume parties will sway him in either direction.
