Giants' Apple inactive vs. Chiefs as mother recovers from brain surgery
Bill Streicher / USA TODAY Sports

No reason was given for Apple's absence, but he was excused from practice this week because his mother was undergoing brain surgery Thursday, according to Art Stapleton of The Record.
