West Ham hands Bilic his walking papers
Slaven Bilic may fancy updating his CV.
The former West Ham United defender is now the fourth Premier League manager to get the sack after the Irons relieved the Split native of his duties on the heels of Saturday's dismal 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool.
West Ham announced Bilic's sacking with a statement on its website Monday, adding that board members "believe a change is now necessary in order for the club to move forward positively and in line with their ambition."
Various outlets, including the Guardian, understand former Everton and Manchester United boss David Moyes is being lined up to succeed the Croatian.
Bilic joins Frank de Boer, Ronald Koeman, and Craig Shakespeare in the unemployment line as West Ham sits 18th, staring down the barrel at a second relegation in eight years courtesy of a scant two league victories in 11 matches and a league-worst 23 goals conceded.
After West Ham slumped to a 3-0 loss to debutant Brighton at the London Stadium on Oct. 20, reports surfaced that co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold had given Bilic two matches to save his job despite a reluctance to sack the 49-year-old.
West Ham then came from behind for a thrilling 3-2 League Cup victory over London rival Tottenham before suffering a demoralising 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace despite boasting a two-goal advantage in the first half.
Bilic's last match in charge against Liverpool left West Ham one point adrift of safety.
