Chuck Cook / USA TODAY Sports

Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller is expected to be released from a New Orleans hospital after undergoing surgery to repair a torn artery in his leg last Sunday, Chris Mortensen reported on ESPN's "Sunday Countdown."

Miller dislocated his left knee on a play in last Sunday's game against the Saints which resulted in a torn popliteal artery. He was rushed to hospital to undergo emergency vascular surgery.

The surgery was necessary in order to save Miller's leg, Mortensen reported earlier in the week.

Miller still faces a tough recovery to heal his leg, Mortensen added Sunday.
