CC Sabathia's mentioned that he would like to return to the New York Yankees next season, and that's a possibility considering how well he pitched for them in 2017 - but if it doesn't happen, the 37-year-old has made his peace with moving on.

"I don't worry about it. If my run is up here - like Joe (Girardi) - I had a great time," Sabathia recently told Ryan Ruocco on The Players' Tribune podcast. "I was here for nine years with some of the best players on the planet, won a World Series, (these are the) greatest fans ever. I was a Yankee. I can say that. But no, I'm good with it."

The Yankees project to have a starting rotation of Masahiro Tanaka, Luis Severino, Sonny Gray, Jordan Montgomery, and Bryan Mitchell next season, so there could be room for Sabathia's return.

In the latest of his nine campaigns with the Yankees, Sabathia - who's now a free agent - went 14-5 with a 3.69 ERA across 27 starts.

He pitched well in the postseason too, striking out 19 across five starts. Sabathia allowed just a single earned run during two starts in the American League Championship Series against eventual World Series champions the Houston Astros.
