Chiefs' Peters buys young fan 2 pairs of sneakers during random mall run-in

Jay Biggerstaff / USA TODAY Sports

Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters rewarded a young fan with two new pairs of sneakers after witnessing the boy's good behavior at a Kansas City mall.

Twelve-year-old ZaMarion Coffie was browsing a shoe store with his mother, Larissa Coffie, on Saturday when he showed her a pair of $200 Air Jordan Retro 5s he wanted, according to Pete Grathoff of the Kansas City Star. Larissa told ZaMarion to put them back because they had to leave, and after he did as she asked, Peters approached them and offered to buy the shoes.

Larissa wrote about the encounter on Facebook, not knowing at the time that the man was Peters.

In an email to the Star, she said Peters "appreciated the fact (ZaMarion) was respectful to his mom and did as he was told."
