McElwain uncertain of job security: 'Nothing in this world surprises me'
After an embarrassing display Saturday, and amid reports Florida may try to fire him with cause, head coach Jim McElwain acknowledged he could be on shaky ground in Gainesville.
"Nothing in this world surprises me," McElwain told reporters when asked if he'd be stunned to lose his job in the very near future, according to ESPN's Edward Aschoff and Mark Schlabach. "I know what I was brought here to do - to fix the offense - and we haven't done that. We haven't won enough and we haven't won championships."
Earlier in the afternoon, the Gators dropped their third straight decision, getting demolished 42-7 by rival Georgia.
During the game, ESPN reported Florida administrators were looking into the possibility of terminating McElwain without paying his buyout on the grounds that he lied about his players and their families receiving death threats.

McElwain said he became aware of speculation Saturday morning that he could be on his way out, but hadn't been given any indication by program officials that those rumors were substantiated.
"It's the first I've heard of it," he told the media. "We'll see."
The most recent loss dropped Florida to 3-4 on the season, and McElwain to 22-12 in his three-year tenure.
