Linebacker NaVorro Bowman started for the Oakland Raiders in his first game since being acquired when his club meets the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Not only did Bowman get the start, the Raiders made him their defensive playcaller, being the only one to communicate via radio to the sidelines, according to ESPN's Paul Gutierrez.

Bowman, a four-time All-Pro, signed a one-year deal with the Raiders on Monday after being released by the San Francisco 49ers.

In five games this season, the 29-year-old recorded 38 tackles and one pass deflection for the Niners.

Bowman is expected to replace rookie middle linebacker Marquel Lee in the starting lineup.
