Report: Martavis Bryant requested trade from Steelers

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant recently asked for a trade, and his coaches and teammates know he's disgruntled in the Steel City, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The request was submitted several weeks ago, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano, who reports that Bryant is aggrieved by his diminishing role with the Steelers in the wake of rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster's emergence.

Despite his desire for a fresh start, Pittsburgh doesn't plan to trade Bryant, sources told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN - at least, not at this juncture.

Bryant caught two passes for 27 yards Sunday in a win over the Kansas City Chiefs, and has just 15 receptions for 204 yards and one touchdown through five contests this season.

The 25-year-old appeared to be on the verge of stardom after racking up 765 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games in 2015, but he was suspended the entire 2016 campaign for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Bryant, a fourth-round pick of the Steelers in 2014, is in the final year of his rookie contract.
