Toronto FC was officially awarded the MLS Supporters' Shield on Sunday ahead of a penultimate regular season clash with rival Montreal Impact, and those same supporters celebrated the occasion with a locally-inspired tifo.
A united south end at BMO Field lifted a banner of the Shield, while displaying a banner reading "Started from the bottom, now we're here" - both hearkening back to the club's darker days and acknowledging the incredible rise of the Reds in the years that followed with one of the more well-known lines by rap artist (and Toronto product) Drake.
For a club once dubbed by its star man Danny Koevermans as the "worst team in the world," the 2017 season represents a story come full-circle. The Reds are chasing four more points in two matches to secure the record as the best team in MLS regular season history.
Dallas to Toronto. Supporter to supporter.
