The NFL released a statement Wednesday morning ostensibly disputing claims that commissioner Roger Goodell is demanding players stand for the national anthem.
Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday morning that it was "about time" Goodell demanded players stand for the national anthem.

Goodell sent a letter to all teams Tuesday saying "we believe that everyone should stand for the national anthem," though he stopped short of demanding it.
NFL owners will, however, reportedly consider a rule change making it mandatory for all players to stand.
