2018 NFL Mock Draft - Quarter Season Edition
Every month for the remainder of the 2017 season, theScore's Dane Belbeck and Mitch Sanderson will project the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft using the current standings to predict draft order. Strength of schedule will be used as the first tiebreaker and theScore's weekly power rankings will be used as the second.
1. Cleveland Browns - Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
The Browns look like they're going to give DeShone Kizer more than one year to turn the ship around, but there's just no way a quarterback doesn't go first this April. If the Browns still have this pick by season's end, it will be traded. - Sanderson
2. San Francisco 49ers - Sam Darnold, QB, USC
Darnold won't have to go far to continue his football career, as the USC star makes his way to San Francisco to give Kyle Shanahan the franchise quarterback he covets. - Belbeck
3. New York Giants - Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State
Obviously, the Giants need help on their offensive line, but they've had that issue for years and have done zilch. Plus, who needs blockers when Barkley can do everything himself? - Sanderson
4. Los Angeles Chargers - Derwin James, S, Florida State
It feels like the Chargers haven't had an impact player in the secondary since Eric Weddle's prime, and James immediately becomes a difference-maker for the club. Adding his talent in the back end to the Chargers' formidable pass rush will make them a tough opponent for years. - Belbeck
5. Cincinnati Bengals - Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame
The Bengals desperately need to replace Andrew Whitworth and build some semblance of a working offensive line. McGlinchey is their best bet. - Sanderson
6. Indianapolis Colts - Connor Williams, OT, Texas
Andrew Luck can't stay healthy, and the backup quarterbacks have proven ineffective. The Texas star locks up the tackle position for the Colts and keeps Luck upright for years to come. - Belbeck
7. Chicago Bears - Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M
Mitchell Trubisky needs some weapons that aren't just flameouts from other teams. Kirk could be the No. 1 target the Bears hoped Kevin White would be. - Sanderson
8. Miami Dolphins - Minkah Fitzpatrick, CB, Alabama
The Dolphins' pass defense is currently 27th in the league, which is never a good thing in the same division as Tom Brady. Adding Fitzpatrick will shore up the back end. - Belbeck
9. Baltimore Ravens - Derrius Guice, RB, LSU
The Ravens' offense is struggling badly, but its receivers aren't terrible, the offensive line will be improved by guys who are currently injured, and the quarterback makes too much to get the boot. A running back it is! - Sanderson
10. Arizona Cardinals - Calvin Ridley, WR, Alabama
The Cardinals' offense looks horrific without David Johnson, and they could go a number of different ways here. Ridley represents the best talent on the board and will finally give the club a potential replacement for Larry Fitzgerald. - Belbeck
