Malcom extends Bordeaux terms

Brazilian star-to-be Malcom has extended his contract at Bordeaux, putting pen to paper on a new deal that adds one year to his current terms.

Les Girondins announced the move with a statement on its official website Wednesday, adding that the 20-year-old's new contract runs through 2021.

Ordinarily, a youngster with just two years of top-flight experience agreeing to new terms with a club of Bordeaux's stature wouldn't merit the headlines. In the case of Malcom, Jocelyn Gourvennec's lot know exactly what they have in the Sao Paulo-born winger.

Amidst a breakthrough campaign, the electric attacker has emerged as one of the continent's next big stars, pairing three goals and four assists as part of a three-prong attack with Nicolas de Preville and fellow young talent Francois Kamano.

Drawing comparisons to another Sao Paulo stud lighting up Ligue 1, Neymar, Malcom is sure to attract interest from some of Europe's big clubs, and his new deal will make any potential move a more lucrative one for Bordeaux.

Malcom and Neymar will get a chance to face off Saturday at the Parc des Princes as Paris Saint-Germain welcomes the division's only other unbeaten side to the capital for the early Ligue 1 fixture.
