Aguero levels Manchester City's scoring record from 1939

Step aside, Eric Brook.

The roaming outside-left held Manchester City's all-time goal-scoring record since hanging up his boots 78 years ago, but he now has Sergio Aguero for company.

It could only be temporary, though. The Argentinian struck his record-equalling 177th goal for the club in Saturday's Premier League visit from Burnley, and, at just 29 and with a contract that runs until 2019 in Manchester, he has plenty of time to distance himself from Brooks' previous high.

Aguero's leveller came from 12 yards after goalkeeper Nick Pope felled Bernardo Silva in the penalty area. It was the striker's first start since being involved in a car accident in Amsterdam on Sept. 28 following a concert, and he became the first player to reach double figures for goal involvement (seven goals, three assists) in the 2017-18 Premier League season.

If Aguero doesn't surpass Manchester City's scoring record in the Burnley match, he'll turn his attention to upcoming bouts with Wolverhampton Wanderers in the League Cup, West Bromwich Albion in league play, and against Napoli in the Champions League.
