The Kansas City Chiefs' secondary got a bit thinner Sunday, as the team placed starting cornerback Steven Nelson on injured reserve/designated to return with a core muscle injury, according to BJ Kissel of Chiefs.com.
The earliest return from this type of injury is six weeks, according to Kissel, meaning Nelson is likely to miss a solid chunk of the season.
The 24-year-old made 15 starts last season, recording a combined 65 tackles along with 16 pass deflections.
