Ranked: 5 best unveilings of the summer transfer window

Considering the internet's insatiable desire to belittle in perpetuity, running a football club's social media account can be a fool's errand, especially for the young staffer who knows no better than to read the replies.

Even with a glut of formulaic and painfully unfunny offerings, there are diamonds in the rough, and with the transfer window presenting an appropriate opportunity for creativity, here's a look at the five best transfer unveilings of the summer window:

5) Stoke takes aim over Jese signing

It seems Stoke City players aren't the only ones at the club capable of brutish behaviour, as the Potters took a slew of clubs to task on the heels of Jese's loan move to the bet365 Stadium. Spicy stuff that.

4) Where there's smoke there's hires

"Lemme get a four piece jerk, and instead of rice and peas, a new manager." Croydon lot Crystal Palace's hiring of Frank de Boer was announced with a tweet that was both a nod to the multicultural nature of its south London digs and a spoof of the Vatican's means for revealing a new Pope.

3) Stuart Taylor goes to Hollywood

Southampton got in on the meta fun with a glossy video announcing Taylor's signing. Not too shabby for a player who's made seven first-team appearances since 2012, hence why the Saints took the mickey. Social media stalwarts Roma took notice, trying its hand with Gregoire Defrel's move to the Eternal City.

2) Roma goes over the top for Cengiz Under

A melange of dance music and abhorrent editing is a staple of YouTube highlight videos, and Roma perfectly channeled this with the announcement of Under's move from Turkish upstarts Basaksehir. Full credit to the people behind Roma's account for an entertaining summer.

1) 'Come to Besiktas'

Ricardo Quaresma, Pepe, Alvaro Negredo, Jermain Lens, and Gary Medel were all party to Besiktas' whimsical efforts, winning over neutrals with a brand of low-budget transfer unveilings that were the summer's best by some margin.
