Wright intends to keep playing after latest surgery

David Wright isn't ready to hang up his cleats just yet.

The 34-year-old New York Mets captain, who underwent surgery to repair his right rotator cuff on Tuesday, met with the media Thursday to discuss his future and said he has no intentions of retiring, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo.

Wright has appeared in 75 games since the beginning of the 2015 season due to countless injuries, and felt the shoulder surgery was necessary after he realized he couldn't throw a baseball during a recent rehab assignment.

The veteran third baseman and seven-time All-Star also mentioned he'd be fine with switching positions and with the Mets looking for a long-term third baseman to replace him. He also said he has no intentions of becoming a manager.

During his 13 years in the majors, Wright owns a .296/.376/.491 slash line with 242 home runs, 970 RBIs, and 196 steals.
