Broncos' Joseph: Jamaal Charles will play a lot Saturday

Denver Broncos fans have yet to see Jamaal Charles appear in preseason action, but his absence will soon come to an end.

The Broncos are set to take on the Green Bay Packers during Week 3 of the preseason Saturday, and head coach Vance Joseph confirmed the veteran will indeed see game action, according to Nick Kosmider of The Denver Post.

"Jamaal is going to play a lot," Joseph said. He also confirmed that Saturday's game will be the only time Charles sees the field prior to roster cuts on Sept. 2.

The decision to hold Charles back brings about an interesting competition for spots behind C.J. Anderson and Devontae Booker. Charles will be competing with the likes of Stevan Ridley, Juwan Thompson, and De'Angelo Henderson to crack the opening week roster.

Charles has not been a relevant force in the NFL since suffering a torn ACL in his right knee during Week 5 of the 2015 season. Since then, he has appeared in just three games, rushing for 40 yards on 12 carries.
