Hasler shatters Chicago's perfect home record as TFC pulls away at the top

Toronto FC reached the 50-point mark and maintained its spot at the top of the Eastern Conference and in the race for the Supporters' Shield following a dominant 3-1 showing against title challenger Chicago Fire.

Newcomer Nicolas Hasler scored the game-winning goal in the second half of Saturday's heavyweight tilt, plucking out a cross by Victor Vazquez and heading past goalkeeper Matt Lampson to become the 15th TFC player to score in the 2017 season.

The goal proved the game-winner, but not the last of the night as Sebastian Giovinco added his name beside Hasler and Marky Delgado with a late third to give the Reds a 3-1 victory away in Illinois, a result that ends Chicago's perfect home record; the Fire went into the match with a 10-0-1 record at Toyota Park.
