Report: Decision on Elliott case could come by Friday

A decision on the investigation into Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott could be delivered by Friday, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The NFL is investigating a domestic violence allegation involving Elliott, and he could face a suspension ahead of the regular season.

It was reported on July 31 that commissioner Roger Goodell was waiting on an outside panel of advisers who attended meetings with Elliott to finish their work on the case, before coming to a decision.

Elliott reportedly met with Goodell in late June as part of the investigation, NBC's Michele Tafoya reported last Thursday.

Cowboys executive vice president and CEO Stephen Jones called the league out for their inefficiency during the Elliott investigation Monday.

Elliott has been vehemently backed by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones throughout the case, believing the running back did not commit any wrongdoing. Jones once again voiced his support for Elliott on Friday, and doesn't anticipate a suspension for the All-Pro.
