The Miami Dolphins are aware of a report that receiver Jarvis Landry is the subject of an investigation by police, head coach Adam Gase told reporters Monday, according to the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley.

Local reporter Andy Slater reported earlier in the day that Landry is under investigation for battery following an incident with the mother of his child that took place earlier this year.

Police previously looked into the situation and did not prosecute, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. Landry was reportedly cooperative.

The case has been forwarded by the Fort Lauderdale police department to the Broward County State Attorney's Office, according to Slater.

Landry is seeking a new contract with the Dolphins, but the team has appeared very hesitant to engage in talks. Gase said Monday that Landry's legal situation is unrelated to his contract.
