Tulowitzki leaves game with right ankle sprain
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was removed from Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels with what the team is calling a right ankle sprain that was suffered while running out a ground ball in the third inning.
Tulowitzki will now undergo further testing on the ankle, according to a club announcement.
Tulowitzki turned his ankle on the edge of first base as he ran through the first-base bag, and immediately tumbled to the ground in visible pain. After being examined he was helped off the field by the Blue Jays' training staff, putting no weight on his hurt ankle.
Darwin Barney entered the game in place of Tulowitzki and took over at second base, with Ryan Goins sliding over to shortstop.
The 32-year-old Tulowitzki is hitting .250/.301/.379 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs in 65 games for the Blue Jays this season. He's already spent five weeks on the disabled list this year.
