Watch: Jaylon Smith shows signs of explosiveness at camp

Dallas Cowboys fans got a good look at linebacker Jaylon Smith's health as the team began training camp this week. The early returns are mixed.

Smith sat out last year's training camp and his entire rookie season after tearing up his knee in his final game at Notre Dame, but the damaged nerves in his leg have reportedly shown signs of regeneration and Smith was cleared for limited work at this summer's camp.

In the video above, Smith (No. 54) looks explosive as he runs through drills.

Not all video evidence from camp is positive, however, as Smith appeared tentative and perhaps even hobbled at the end of his run on this play:

It's impossible to assess a player's health based on video of only a few plays early in training camp, and the Cowboys have surely instructed Smith not to push things too far.

We'll have a much better idea of Smith's chances of playing in Week 1 when we see how he looks when the pads go on and in the preseason.
