White: Nunes-Shevchenko won't be booked to main event again

It could be a while before Amanda Nunes is trusted to headline another show.

At the post-fight press conference for UFC 213 on Saturday, company president Dana White told reporters that he is not planning to have Nunes defend the women's bantamweight title against Valentina Shevchenko in a main event again after Nunes withdrew from UFC 213 hours before showtime due to an illness.

"Yeah, I won't do that again," said White, when asked how Nunes' withdrawal would impact the company's plans for her going forward. "I won't main event that title again."

While it's unclear if White is swearing off the whole division or just Nunes as a headlining act, this wouldn't be the first time that he's vowed not to shine the spotlight on one of his star fighters as a result of them missing an important fight.

In 2016, White said that he "would never take the risk of headlining a show with Jon Jones again" after the former light heavyweight champion was removed from UFC 200 when he was flagged for a USADA violation just three days before the show.

Jones faces current light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 214 on July 29.
