It didn't take long for the Atlanta Braves to get their retribution on Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista on Thursday, a day after the outfielder flipped his bat following a solo home run.
Braves starter Julio Teheran drilled Bautista in the left leg during the first inning of the final game of a home-and-home series between the two clubs. Teheran's pitch was 95.6 mph, his fastest since 2015, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
Bautista, who eventually came around to score during a three-run inning from Toronto, brushed off the plunking as home-plate umpire Paul Emmel issued warnings to both benches.
The hitting of Bautista comes during an increasingly heated series, which featured benches being emptied twice Wednesday.
