Report: Harvey played golf prior to Mets game Saturday

As more information trickles in, a new report states Matt Harvey went golfing prior to his failure to attend the New York Mets game Saturday, according to FanRag's Jon Heyman.

A day before his scheduled start, Harvey reportedly wasn't at the ballpark for the Mets game due to a migraine. A migraine that, sources close to Harvey contend, surfaced after he returned home from a round of golf Saturday morning.

Harvey showed up to Citi Field on Sunday prior to his scheduled start against the Miami Marlins in the series finale to find out that he would be pegged with a three-day suspension without pay for violating team policy, and was promptly sent home.

Adam Wilk ended up starting in his place, giving up two home runs to Giancarlo Stanton, as the Mets got one-hit by Marlins starter Jose Urena in a 7-0 rout.

Harvey intends to file a grievance against the Mets over the suspension. According to Heyman, Harvey sees the suspension as a miscommunication, in which, presumably, the Mets didn't understand or were perhaps completely unaware of Harvey's migraine.

Harvey underwent surgery last season to address his thoracic outlet syndrome - a condition that causes pain and numbness in the shoulders, neck, and fingers. Since his breakout into the league over the 2012-2013 seasons and following his Tommy John surgery, Harvey has posted a 3.61 ERA and 3.47 FIP over 317 innings.
