Britton says Orioles have moved on from Red Sox spat

As the Baltimore Orioles walk onto the field at Fenway Park on Monday night to begin the team's second series against the Boston Red Sox in 2017, the residual fallout from previous drama is bound to linger.

On April 23, Orioles third baseman Manny Machado made an aggressive slide into second base with his feet up. He injured Dustin Pedroia on the play. On the following Sunday, Red Sox reliever Matt Barnes threw at Machado's head in possible retaliation.

Orioles closer Zach Britton, who had his own words for Pedroia following the back-and-forth, said there is no point on dwelling on the past, according to the Boston Globe's Alex Speier.

"I think at this point, that series is over with," Britton said. "We're ready to look forward to this series and having a good series against these guys. As far as anything that happened in Baltimore, I think it's over with. We're just looking forward to playing this series. There's really not a whole lot, I think, that's going to carry over."

The teams will have four games to test their cooler temperaments. Eyes may be on Barnes, for he's already served his four-game suspension stemming from that weekend's insanity.

First pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m. ET on Monday night, with Dylan Bundy starting for the Orioles and reigning Cy Young winner Rick Porcello toeing the rubber for the Red Sox.
