Jets' Richardson: Teammate Marshall 'should be embarrassed' after loss

New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson had some choice words for wide receiver Brandon Marshall after the team's 41-3 loss to the New England Patriots.

Marshall said after the game that the loss was "embarrassing" for everyone on the Jets, a comment Richardson responded to.

"He should be embarrassed," Richardson said of his teammate, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Pressed for detail, Richardson tried to backtrack.

"He knows what he did. It's cool, bro. … It's irrelevant. Scratch that comment."

Marshall and Richardson previously had a verbal confrontation in the locker room after the team's Week 3 loss.

Though Richardson insisted there is "no animosity whatsoever" between him and Marshall, he suggested he doesn't fully respect the veteran wideout.

"Personally? Yeah," Richardson said. "Professionally? (He shook head no and grunted) … I can't even explain it, bro."

Marshall later tried to shake off Richardson's comments.

"That's Sheldon, man," Marshall said. "It's Sheldon. Our stories and our journey, the start of our careers are totally different, but really similar. It hurts to see someone with so much potential and so many people trying to help him. … I just wish him the best. I hope that he gets everything he wants, man. He's an amazing talent. I just want him to see the big picture."

"I know one of the things that he's always said to me is he wants me to make more plays," Marshall added. "So that's the only thing I can think of."
