McGregor rumored to appear on 'Game of Thrones'

UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor could have his sights set on a new challenge: conquering Westeros.

The 28-year-old mixed martial artist has reportedly agreed to make an appearance on one of the final two seasons of HBO's "Game of Thrones."

"He was headhunted, as it were, by HBO, as one of the 'Game Of Thrones' directors is a huge UFC fan. They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show," a source told The Sunday Life, according to Metro.

Details about McGregor's rumored role weren't disclosed. It's likely he'll merely be a background extra, as some other celebrities have been in the past, but perhaps it's not out of the question HBO will put McGregor's fighting talents to good use.

The 155-pounder has sparred in the past with 240-pounder Hafthor Julius Bjornsson, who plays "The Mountain" Gregor Clegane in the show:
