Incognito: My Trump support created 'zero' tension with teammates
Offensive lineman Richie Incognito said his outspoken support of Donald Trump wasn't an issue for any of his teammates.
Incognito told Albert Breer of The MMQB there was "zero" tension among the Bills related to Trump, saying that a third of the team was vocal about their support of a candidate, a third quietly supported a candidate, and a third didn't care about the election.
Incognito said he playfully taunted Hillary Clinton supporter and teammate Jerome Felton after Trump's win, something that could set off red flags considering Incognito's history of being accused of bullying teammates.
Incognito admitted to Breer he believed Trump would lose to Clinton, as many Americans did.
"I thought Trump was dead in the water several weeks ago, too much bad press, too much negativity," Incognito said. "I bought into the CNN hype and the polls, and thought Hillary was running away with it. But it just goes to show you people were looking for a change. … And the voter turnout, the engagement, it really got people talking. It was hard for me to love Trump for all his ideas and after all his comments. I got on the train early. There were times I wanted to jump off. But I’m glad I stuck with him."
Bills head coach Rex Ryan was also public about his desire for Trump to be elected.
