Hazard: 'If I have to leave Chelsea, I must do it like a boss'

Eden Hazard vows to only leave Chelsea on a high, rather than after a sorry season like the 2015-16 campaign.

The Belgian's turgid showings as the reigning PFA Player of the Year were emblematic of his side's overall struggles in a season which saw Jose Mourinho lose his job, no silverware collected by the Blues, and 10th-placed finish ensuring there will be no European commitments in 2016-17.

Hazard's annus horribilis inevitably led to suggestions that the fleet-footed menace was unsettled at Stamford Bridge, and reports that Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid were sniffing around intensified. The 25-year-old insists he's staying put though as he works on improving his form.

"I have a contract until 2020. I don't want to finish like this," he told Telefoot, according to ESPN FC. "If I have to leave, I must do it like a boss! Like I did in Lille. PSG are not among my projects right now."

In his award-winning 2014-15 term, Hazard scored 14 goals and contributed nine assists. The following year saw him wait eight-and-a-half months for his first league goal; he ended in May with four goals and three assists in the Premier League.

"Everything was complicated, it was difficult," he continued. "Honestly, for five or six years I'd always been at my best and this was the first season where it was more difficult. But everyone knows that in a career there are highs and lows.

"For the time being, touch wood, I've only experienced the highs - except for this season, when it wasn't quite as good. But it was meant to happen this season. I hope it doesn't happen again next season."

Following the exit of interim manager Guus Hiddink, Hazard will work under the watch of Antonio Conte when he returns to Chelsea after Belgium's Euro 2016 adventure.
