Nick Saban on writing an autobiography one day: 'It will be the real deal'

Kelly Lambert / US PRESSWIRE

The only person who knows Nick Saban is Nick Saban.

Without being asked a question about a recently published unauthorized biography titled "Saban: The Making of a Coach", the Alabama head coach used a Thursday news conference to address the matter on his own terms.

To put it lightly, he's not going to buy the book.

But at 63 and entering his ninth year as the Crimson Tide's head coach, Saban says an autobiography will happen some day, but not until he's done with coaching.

"One of these days when I'm finished coaching at Alabama, I'll write an authorized book," Saban said. "Because there's really only one expert on my life, and guess who that is? Me."

Saban isn't once quoted in the book, nor did he provide any information to the author, Monte Burke. The coach added that he'll never bring up the topic again, and it won't be a distraction to him or his team.

As for his future write-up? It'll be straight from the heart of one of college football's most successful coaches.

"And there won't be any misinformation, there won't be any false statements, there won't be any hearsay, there won't be any expert analysis from somebody else. It will be the real deal."
