Buffalo quarterback Joe Licata said he's been cleared for full participation in the Bulls' upcoming training camp after successfully recuperating from offseason hip surgery.

"I'll be participating in everything at camp from the start," Licata said last week at Mid-American Conference Media Day, as reported by Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News. "I'll be 100 percent for Game 1. I’ll trust the trainers. If they want to pull me out of some things on a given day at practice they can, but that would be just precautionary. I'm healed."

Licata, the Bulls' career touchdown pass record holder, had hip surgery back in January after re-aggravating a nagging injury last season.

He previously had surgery to repair a torn labrum in the same hip in January 2014, but admitted after last season he never fully healed from that procedure.

"Really throwing, taking drop-backs and throwing, that was around June 1 when I really started to push it," Licata said. "I've been throwing with the guys. We’ve been out there throwing 7-on-7 and I've been making every throw. As far as running, I had to ease into cutting. It was a long process. I just started cutting a month and a half, two months ago."

He added: "I'm feeling better than I was last year going into camp."
