The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Thursday that Syracuse and Wake Forest will face off in Toronto, Ontario, to kick off the 2027 season.
The meeting will mark the first time that two American college football teams will begin the year in Canada, according to ESPN's Andrea Adelson.
The Week 0 matchup will be the first NCAA college football game held at BMO Field, which is home to the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL and Toronto FC of MLS. The site will also host six games for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
"We are thrilled to bring ACC football to an international stage in Toronto," ACC commissioner Jim Phillips said in a statement. "This conference game represents an exciting opportunity to showcase our student-athletes and our member institutions as well as put on full display the energy of college football to a new and diverse audience."
"Opening the 2027 season in Toronto is an exciting opportunity for Syracuse football and our fans," Syracuse director of athletics John Wildhack said. "Partnering with Wake Forest and ESPN Events for this game created the unique chance for us to headline Week 0 while providing a destination game for fans to visit a world-class city just four hours from campus."
The game will count as a conference matchup between the ACC foes, with Wake Forest being the home team.
The ACC has been aggressive in attempting to expand its global footprint in recent years. The conference hosted games in Dublin, Ireland, in 2016 and 2024, and it will open the 2026 season with another pair of international contests: NC State will take on Virginia in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, while North Carolina will play TCU in Dublin.
Pitt and Wisconsin are scheduled to meet in Dublin during Week 0 of the 2027 season as well.
