Florida quarterback DJ Lagway announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal Monday.

"After much prayer, reflection, and thoughtful consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal," Lagway said in a statement.

The 20-year-old is coming off a sophomore season where he threw for 2,264 yards and completed 213 of 337 passing attempts.

Injuries plagued Lagway's 2025 campaign. He missed spring practice after undergoing core muscle surgery while also dealing with a shoulder issue. He was hampered by a calf injury in July that limited his participation in summer camp until mid-August.

Turnovers also became a major concern: He thew 14 interceptions compared to 16 touchdowns in his first full season as a starter.

Lagway is looking for a fresh start with a program that can capitalize on his talent, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel, hoping for something similar to the way Bo Nix and Jayden Daniels transformed their careers by transferring schools.

The 6-foot-3, 247-pound passer was a five-star signee in the Gators' 2024 recruiting class and was ranked as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the nation, per the ESPN 300.

Florida, which finished with a 4-8 record, experienced significant changes this year. The Gators fired head coach Billy Napier during his fourth season at the helm when the team was 3-4 and hired Jon Sumrall as his replacement at the end of November.
