Deion: Colorado will 'win differently' in 2025
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders lost his best players on both sides of the ball ahead of the 2025 season, but he still believes the Buffaloes will find ways to win.
"The next phase is we're going to win differently, but we're going to win," Sanders said, according to ESPN's Adam Rittenberg. "I don't know if it's going to be the Hail Marys at the end of the game, but it's going to be hell during the game, because we want to be physical and we want to run the heck out of the football."
Sanders helped Colorado post a 9-4 record last season, up from 4-8 in his first year with the team. However, Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and other starters left Boulder earlier this year. Quarterbacks Kaidon Salter and Julian Lewis are among the players who joined the Buffaloes ahead of this season.
Coach Prime admitted that it'll feel "a little weird" to not coach his son, Shedeur, after the Cleveland Browns drafted him in the fifth round of the NFL draft in April. Hunter, meanwhile, went second overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Sanders, 57, recently rejoined Colorado after a cancerous tumor was discovered and he had his bladder removed. He said he feels great going into the new season.
"I'm healthy, I'm vibrant, I'm my old self," Sanders said. "I'm loving life right now. I'm trying my best to live to the fullest, considering what transpired."
The Buffaloes kick off their 2025 season against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29.
