Michigan officially finalizes contract with head coach Moore
Michigan and head coach Sherrone Moore have finalized a contract, the sides announced Wednesday.
"Our University of Michigan administration, led by President Santa Ono and Athletic Director Warde Manuel, has been tremendous throughout this process, and I am excited to have this full contract completed," Moore said in a statement. "Their support for our team is greatly appreciated, and all three of us are aligned in our goals for this football program."
"He is a proven leader and has been a great ambassador during his seven-plus years representing Michigan," school president Santa Ono and athletic director Warde Manuel said in a joint statement.
Both sides agreed in January to the framework of a deal, which was for five years and $500,000, as well as an additional $5 million in compensation in the first year of the pact, per ESPN's Jake Trotter. Moore was promoted from offensive coordinator after Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL.
The 38-year-old Moore and his staff had been working under a memorandum of understanding since January, according to CBS Sports' Will Backus and Richard Johnson. He was the Wolverines' interim head coach during their final three games of the 2023 season after Harbaugh was suspended for his role in a sign-stealing scandal.
The Wolverines are 1-1 this season after seeing their 23-game home win streak snapped last weekend. Michigan will play Arkansas State on Saturday.
