Report: Oregon State's Martinez plans to enter transfer portal
Oregon State running back Damien Martinez intends to enter the transfer portal, according to Pete Nakos of On3.
Martinez earned two first-team All-Pac-12 nods in as many seasons with the Beavers. He set career highs with 1,185 yards (6.1 per carry) and nine touchdowns on the ground in 2023. The star tailback was named 2022 Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year after rushing for 982 yards and seven scores.
Martinez previously said other schools showed interest in him, but he was focused on staying with the Beavers, according to Jake Hedberg of 247 Sports.
He was set to make more than $400,000 to play at Oregon State this season, notes Pete Thamel of ESPN.
The Beavers named Trent Bray their new head coach to replace Jonathan Smith, who took the Michigan State job in November.
