Miami gained a huge verbal commitment on Wednesday from defensive tackle Justin Scott.

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Scott had previously been committed to Ohio State since July.

"From the first time they offered me to now, they have never changed," Scott said, according to On3's Hayes Fawcett. "Even when I committed, they still recruited me and emphasized the need for my position there. I've built so many strong relationships there as well with everybody on the staff."

Scott is the 36th-ranked overall prospect and No. 4-rated defensive tackle on the ESPN 300. He's also considered the top prospect in the state of Illinois. The Chicago native is rated as a five-star prospect by other recruiting outlets.

The St. Ignatius College Prep standout shared that his relationship with Miami's coaching staff and their plan to use him were factors in his decision.

"They plan on using me from the (three-technique to six-technique), so really just playing everywhere on the D-line," Scott said.

The Hurricanes pick up momentum ahead of the early signing period. Scott joins wide receivers Joshisa Trader and Ny Carr and fellow defensive tackle Artavius Jones among Miami's highest-rated 2024 pledges.
